Currently: September edition

Hello lovelies,

Today I am trying something a little new and I hope you enjoy it as much as I think I will. I have seen these types of posts around the blogosphere lately and have been wanting to try this format myself. I am linking up with Anne of In Residence and her guest host Lowanda from Sunshine and Elephants for the Currently monthly link-up.

Basically, once a month I’ll be sharing some current info about myself in several different areas. So here we go!

Celebrating:

Back to school and Nyla’s 15th birthday! This week the kids are back in school (grades 10, 7 and 5!) and though it makes me a little sad to have them gone part of the day, a big part of me is happy for them and they are happy too. Happy to be back in a set schedule, back to seeing their friends etc.  Nyla is 15 this month (how did this happen?!?) time is flying by so fast!

Watching:

Firefighter Games 2017. My husband is a volunteer firefighter in our area and his crew put together a team for the firefighter games this past weekend. Our whole family went to watch them compete and participate in this wonderful event that supports muscular dystrophy. It was so hot and dry (which is fine by me I got to check out lots of shirtless firefighters 😉 )

Welcoming:

Fall! And cooler weather and all the yummy comfort food that brings. I hate to sound like everyone else but I just love everything apple, pumpkin and spice! Also, with the cooler weather it will hopefully help knock down some of the forest fires currently taking over my poor province (see below).

Preparing:

To complete my studies, I hope. This past year and a half, I have been doing an online course for Medical Transcription (email me if you want more info on this) in hopes that I can work at home and keep a watchful eye on our little homestead. It has been a challenge and taken up so much time that I would rather be doing other homestead related things. I just want to complete it and get to work!

Currently: Photographing Forest Fires
Please forgive the horrible quality. I attempted this at dusk and my phone did not like that light!

Photographing:

Forest fires. I live in the southern interior of B.C. and it is still incredibly smokey. We have been watching a forest fire that is on the other side of the lake from where we live. At first it was on the back side and all we could see was the plumes of smoke but last week it crested the top and started coming down the visible side and I can’t stop watching it and attempting to photograph it.

  1. I’d love to have a work from home job – but I’m sure getting the degree is tiring after awhile! It sounds like you’re close though, so great job.

I’m loving the fall weather – and really, just all things fall!
