Homesteading Bucket List
Do you have a bucket list? Do you know what a bucket list is? It is defined as ” a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime”.
To be honest, until a little while ago, I had never written down my bucket lists. I had just been keeping a running list in my head. I have a few lists separated into a couple categories and today I’m going to share my homesteading list and later this week I’ll share my travel related lists.
I have crossed off the ones that I’ve accomplished and highlighted ones that have a related blog post. Also, this list is open-ended so occasionally you might see things added.
- Own a milk cow
Build a fence
- make a root cellar
Start a garden from scratch Start laying hens from chicks Butcher a chicken from beginning to end
- Eat a Breakfast,
Lunch, and Dinner grown entirely on our own land
- Butcher a pig
- Milk a cow, goat
- make cheese, butter, icecream
- grow a melon from seed
- grow corn and eat it
- Can food from our garden
- Dry food from our garden
- Ferment food from our garden
- Build a food forest
- Grow our own apples, pears, peaches, plums, apricots, grapes, goji berries, blueberries
Make bread from scratch
- Learn to make various types of bread from scratch
- Learn to shoot a bow
- Learn to shoot a gun
- Learn how to properly set a trap
- Learn to make soap
- Learn to make candles
Learn how to light a fire without using matches Learn to ride a horse
- Own a horse
- Try eating rabbit
- Meet one of my farming idols
Own our own piece of property big enough to have farm animals
- Learn about Essential Oils
- Build up my Essential Oil Collection
