Online Income Report for December and How I Made $ Online in 2016

This post contains affiliate links.

Hello and welcome to my December Online Income Report and how I made $ online in 2016. This year has been a whirlwind of learning, earning and growing. If you are new to Just Dabbling Along, below are a few reasons why I post an income report, if you have been here before then you can just skip down a bit if you want.

Before September, I had never done an online income report before. You know why? Because I never had an income to report before! (You can check out my first income report right here!)

Online Income Report December

To be honest I feel kind of funny sharing this with the world. I was brought up that money, and especially income earned was private. BUT, one of the main reasons I started to want to make an income on my blog, was because I saw and read other peoples’ reports and I was inspired!

I think the first one I read was one of Rosemarie’s  (The Busy Budgeter) and that was way back in March or April. I believe it was through Rosemarie’s blog that I found Michelle’s blog (Making Sense of Cents). You should check out both those ladies blogs, they are an amazing source of information and inspiration.

Anyways, after checking in on both blogs for a few months, I hit the jackpot when I found out Michelle was launching a course called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. I took the course and learned so much and started implementing right away and guess what? It worked! After a few months of “monetizing” my blog, it was finally making a (tiny!) income. I was thrilled!

So, how and where have I started to make an income? Through affiliate marketing of course! The other big difference was making the change from a wordpress.com site to a wordpress.org site hosted by Bluehost. 2016 ~ Year in Review

Ok first off I wanted to do a bit of a year-end review before I get into the December numbers.  Like I said above, this year has been a huge year for learning, earning and growing!

  • 2016 was a year of learning for me as I decided to invest in a couple classes to help me learn more about affiliate marketing and Pinterest, Facebook strategies, Instagram strategies, SEO strategies, website design, etc etc. (If you would like more info about the bundle I got which includes most of the above classes and a lot more, make sure you subscribe and we will let you know when the exclusive bundle is available)
  • It was definitely a year of earning as this was the first year I made a (tiny) income from this little blog. Next year is going to be even better, I just know it! In 2016 this blog went from 0 to just over $100.
  • The biggest jump on the blog was the amount of growth as we went from about 20 page views per month to about 300 and still growing!

I keep saying it, but this blog is growing and growing and that is all thanks to you lovely people, so thank you so so much and I hope you keep enjoying as I have so many fun and interesting things to share with you in 2017!

Now onto the December recap.

Remember how November was kind of disappointing? Ok honestly it was very disappointing, but it is all a learning experience and since I don’t have massive page views (yet) this isn’t super surprising.

December wasn’t hugely better, but it was a little notch in the + column so I’m just staying positive and staying determined that 2017 is going to be even better. ( I might have a little trick up my sleeve that I will share with you in future if it works out as planned so make sure to subscribe ♥)

Also, although I’ve been publicly publishing my income reports, this whole process has been a way for ME to remind myself to check in and keep tabs on things at least once and month as I’m not the most organized person in the world ?

Ok so, onto the nitty gritty of the breakdown:

 Affiliates

Bluehost ~$0

Dream Big Printables ~ $0

Chapters/Indigo/Coles ~ &1.63

Share a sale affiliates $0

Amazon.ca ~ $0

Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing ~ $0

Total = $1.63  A little more exciting than last month.

Grand Total for 2016: $102.52

Now, I realize that income is not huge and exciting, but it is exciting to me! After 7 (!) years of blogging for fun, I made a little bit for my efforts these last few months. And I have plans, big plans to make this little blog of mine grow and grow. I don’t know if I will ever get to the amazing results that Rosemarie (

I don’t know if I will ever get to the amazing results that Rosemarie ($24,347.68 in August) and Michelle ($ 102,911.00 in September!) get, but they sure are inspiring! If you are interested in learning more about making some $ online I totally recommend taking Michelle’s course. You can even check out my review of Making sense of Affiliate Marketing here

Site stats:

My blog had a bit of an increase in site views, up to 332 (highest ever so far!) for the month of December from 237 in November.

My Pinterest followers increased big time again, going up to 705 from 421. I attribute this to some strategies I put into place after taking both Michelle’s course and learning Rosemarie’s Pinterest Strategy.

My Facebook page saw some minor increased views as well and I attribute those to another book I read called Strategies worth sharing by Brittany Ann (Equipping Godly Women)

My Instagram followers have definitely increased from 24 in September to 80 in December. ?

I hope you have enjoyed my last Online Income Report of 2016. December’s numbers weren’t as exciting as I hoped, but this is still such a learning experience for me and I hope you enjoy learning along with me!
